Breathless and on edge, this piece scurries around frantically, echoing miniature motifs throughout the ensemble. Odd meter changes force the performer to stay on their toes while simultaneously throwing the listener off-balance. Lyrical brass solos contrast with popcorn winds during a bumpy "galloping" sequence before a wry recapitulation leads the piece to its cacophonous close.
