Children at Play (for Wind Ensemble)

Imagine a group of young children playing on the playground or at the park. They are constantly in motion, usually making noise, and their minds are perpetually jumping from one thought to the next, always seeking the next activity and inventing arbitrary, nonsensical games. You can hear them laugh and poke fun at one another and every once in a while let out a shout of joy and excitement. Similar to the bunch of kids playing outside, the attention span of this piece is just as short and the atmosphere just as whimsical. This piece also echoes my belief that "children's music" need not necessarily be simplistic or even innocent-sounding.
